18- Hole Championship Olde Course: Coming Spring 2027
The restored Olde Course at Cobbs Creek, originally designed by the legendary Hugh Wilson of Merion East fame, is undergoing a dramatic transformation under the watchful eyes of Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner.
Hanse and Wagner have completed restorations of many top 100 golf courses including but not limited to Merion Golf Club – East Course, Winged Foot Golf Club, and Aronimink Golf Club. They have created a Master Plan for the historic restoration of Cobbs Creek in a way that honors and protects its important history – as one of the first public golf courses open to all – as well as moves it forward into the 21st century.
Between Cobbs Creek itself cutting through several of the holes, numerous elevation changes, and other naturally occurring obstacles, Cobbs Creek has long had the bones of a premiere Championship course: and now has the momentum to become a world-class destination for golf, right in Philadelphia’s backyard.
The Olde Course at Cobbs Creek is slated for a Spring 2027 opening.
